A tale as old as time: Florida-Georgia rivalry

The annual Florida-Georgia game kicks off Saturday at 3:30 p.m. in Jacksonville.

​The long-awaited Florida-Georgia football rivalry has finally arrived! After a few weeks of uncertainty following University of Florida players testing positive for COVID-19, the game will be played Saturday afternoon barring no other virus-related hiccups. It’s been played every season since 1926 – minus 1943 during WWII – so of course not even a pandemic could stop the event!

The Southeastern Conference game is one of the most famous college football rivalries, and it’s held in Jacksonville each year, but things might look a little different because, well, 2020. Tailgating at the stadium is not allowed, concessions will be open but not accepting cash, and face masks will be required except for when eating or drinking.

As with most events this year, attendees can expect extra precautions and changes, but fans can rest assured that the age-old rivalry will likely continue another year!
