What is Scheduled Personal Property? 

Scheduling your personal property on a homeowner's policy extends coverage beyond the standard protection provided. Standard policies do not cover all types of property and set limitations on the value amount the insurance company will pay for specific losses.

​By scheduling this personal property, owners can ensure that the full-value coverage on expensive items, such as jewelry, would be covered in the event of a claim. ​ Other examples of possessions are artwork, antiques and collectible items.

Understanding Scheduled Personal Property 

On a standard Homeowner's Insurance policy, coverage divides into different categories: 
- Coverage A: Dwelling
- Coverage B: Other Structures (shed, fence, etc.)
- Coverage C: Personal Property (Contents)
- Coverage D: Loss of Property Use
- Coverage E: Personal Liability
- Coverage F: Medical Coverage

Personal Property on most policies include clothing, appliances, furniture, etc. However, there are limits for the coverage value of each item. People with personal property that are valued at more than the maximum coverage listed on the homeowner's policy, should consider adding scheduled property coverage.

The assigning of the value of the scheduled property will vary by insurance carrier. Most companies require copies of a receipt or an appraisal of the item before adding the coverage onto the policy.
